Test Drive : Sumitomo SH210-5 Excavator
Monday, 2 April 2007
BT Equipment floated this new excavator out to the site of DBL Constructions, where they have downed tools to let us put the new look cab and body styling and its new shaped undercarriage.
The first thing I noticed operating the Sumitomo SH210-5 excavator, is the excellent visibility looking out from this new cab. All of the gauges and instruments are very well laid out. There is heaps of room, plenty of space for drinks and lunch, oh and there's that draw that's like a fridge to keep drinks cool.
The noise level in the cab is a very low 68.5 dba, perfect for those who like talking on the mobile phone. The Sumitomo SH210-5 hydraulics boast the new SIH:S (the Sumitomo Intelligent Hydraulic System). What that means in operator terms is, the whole hydraulic system prioritises the flow of oil to certain cylinders, depending on what you're doing. It's thinking for you all the time!
Improvments include: an 8% increase in bucket digging force, a 24% increase in closing speed and a 7% increase in speed under heavy excavation load.
The engine on the news SH210-5 is the ever reliable Isuzu A1-4HKIX, which complies with the EPA tier 3 and EU stage 3A exhaust emission standards. All the service points to the engine are at eye height or below, which makes the servicing of this machine so easy.
Importantly, the Isuzu engine is perfectly suited to this new machine. The undercarriage has been beefed up considerably, all of your steps, brackets, roller frames, everything, are all a lot bigger than the previous model. The overall look of the new body shape and lines are excellent. The boom and dipper arms have also been given an upgrade, the end of the dipper where the bucjet bosses conenct, are in a new cast system that is si much stronger and better looking.
Overall the Sumitomo SH210-5 has improved break out, great new looks, is beefed up in all aspects and handles with ease. Your just wont fault this meachine, its go tthe raliable performance record tat comes with the name Sumitimi and the service and support from BT Equipment. Out thanks to DBL Constructions, for giving tFinal Trim the opportunity to put their brancd new machine through its paces.
